New experimental approaches for human risk assessment of microbial pest control agents – exemplified by the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis

Several microbial pest control agents might be able to cause diseases, as e.g  diarrhea.  It is therefore necessary to have appropriate experimental tools (models) to investigate the potential for pathogenicity.  In this project has three different approaches for investigating virulence in relation to their applicability in relation to risk assessment of microbial pest control agents. It is concluded that this new “models” are good alternatives to the existing, however it is important to compare to as well known microbial strains with and without an pathogenic record .
