Migration and health assessment of chemical substances in surface treated
wooden toys

Abstract
The study gives a survey of chemical substances that can migrate from surface-treated wooden toys, and of the substances to which consumers can be exposed. 15 toys that are likely to be put in the mouth were selected for analysis. Of the 125 substances identified, 43 were classified under the Classification Order. The conclusion from this study is that none of the wooden toys examined are considered to present a health risk to children who put the toys into their mouth. However, the products contribute to the total impact of these substances.
