Danish efforts to promote eco-innovationThe measures aim to improve the framework conditions for Danish environmental technology companies and thus promote the development and use of eco-innovation in the areas of water, air and waste. Solutions that address global environmental problems whilst increasing Danish exports and securing more jobs in Denmark.
The Government Action Plan, Environmental technology – for improvement of the environment and growth, lays down the framework for the Ministry's eco-innovation measures. The Action Plan covers the period 2010-2011 and is aimed at ensuring the development of new environmental technology solutions within the areas of water, waste and air.

The plan is an implementation of a political agreement reached in October 2009 under which DKK 90 million was set aside for the measures. It's a continuation of the first Action Plan, Danish solutions to global environmental challenges, which covers the period 2007-2009.

The Action Plan is a part of the overall Danish measures to promote green technologies and research in order to create growth in Denmark.
Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP)The EU has a parallel measure to promote environmental technology, which was launched in 2004, in the form of an Action Plan entitled ETAP (Environmental Technologies Action Plan).
The aim of ETAP is to make sure that the full potential of environmental technologies is used to reduce the pressure on our natural resources, improve the quality of life of European citizens, and promote economic growth. At the same time, the EU will play a leading role in the development and use of environmental technologies.
Denmark and Danish companies are amongst the global leaders in technological solutions that meet the environmental challenges faced by the world.
