The Environmental Protection Agency regularly produces a statement of the sales of plant protection products for use in private gardens. The 2009 figures show that sales of plant protection products for consumption in private gardens was approximately two percent of total sales of plant protection products in Denmark. In 2009, approximately 23 tonnes of plant protection products were used against weeds and insects in private gardens. Further more it consisted of products to control moss corresponding to approximately 51 tonnes (ferrous sulphate and fatty acid chemicals). Other types of biocidal product, such as products against ants, were not included in the report. There are approximately 1.5 million detached houses, farmhouses, terraced houses and holiday homes in Denmark. Overall consumption corresponds to approximately 49 grams per garden, 34 grams of which is to control moss.
