Pursuant to the Biocidal Products Directive the initial principle is that all biocidal products may not be imported, placed on the market or used without an authorisation. In Denmark the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the competent authority.


Does my product need authorisation?
You should ask yourself a number of questions before placing a biocide product on the market.

Application for the autorisation of biocides
The application procedure varies, depending on whether the biocidal product is subject to the old national authorisation scheme or whether the application is made in accordance with the Biocidal Products Directive.

The authorisation system
The authorisation of a biocidal product is based on an applicant submitting sufficient documentation to show that the product in question has no unacceptable effects either on human health or the environment and that it is sufficiently effective.

Legislation
The Danish Orders and Acts which regulate biocides have not been translated into English, but the most important ones can be read in this section.

Find authorised biocidal products
