Vehicle documentation

When entering a low emission zone in Denmark, kindly note which Euro standard your vehicle meets.

Euro standardMandatory from:Latest registration date:
Euro 2 or older-30 September 2001
Euro 31 October 200130 September 2006
Euro 41 October 200630 September 2009
Euro 51 October 2009

Necessary documentation when entering low emission zones
From 1 November 2011, all heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles, weighing over 3,500 kg, need a label on the windshield showing that the vehicle is allowed to drive in the Danish low emission zones. The label replaces the need for bringing documentation regarding the vehicle's engine standard etc.

You can order the low emission zone label on-line. The costs are approx. € 12 in administration fee. It is also possible to drive to the nearest Danish vehicle inspection facility, where the label can be fitted for a fee laid down by the individual inspection enterprise.

Buying the low emission zone label in Denmark
If you arrive in Denmark without a low emission zone label, you will not be allowed to drive into the low emission zones. You must then drive to the nearest Danish vehicle inspection facility, where the label can be fitted for a fee laid down by the individual inspection enterprise.

At the vehicle inspection facility, you must be able to document that your vehicle meets the environmental requirements in order to get a low emission zone label.

In order to prevent any unnecessary time delays, the easiest way is to order the label on-line from home. That way you'll have it before you drive into one of the Danish low emission zones for the first time after the regulations have entered into force on 1 November 2011.

Necessary documentation, when buying the label in Denmark
When buying the low emission zone label in Denmark, you will need to document that your vehicle meets the Euro 4 standard, as a minimum. If your vehicle was registered after 1 October 2006, you will only need to bring the vehicle's registration certificate.

If your vehicle meets the Euro 4 standard, but was purchased before 1 October 2006, this must be stated on the vehicle's registration certificate. If it is not stated, you need to bring additional documentation. This may be an invoice or a certificate from a motor vehicle inspector.

Also, if your vehicle has had a particle filter fitted after purchase you must bring documentation that the filter meets the specific requirements.

Example:
A Euro 4 truck was registered for the first time on 1 July 2005. At this time, only the Euro 3 standard was mandatory. In this example, the first registration date is not enough to document that the vehicle meets the Euro 4 standard.
